Where peptide claims leave question marks

A directory code is not a verdict.

An official-looking number can feel decisive. Find out what it records before treating it as an answer.

A moment to think it through.

The idea to question

Appearing in a government drug directory settles the product’s status.

The short answer

A drug product can have an identifying number called its National Drug Code, or NDC. The code offers no approval: that is FDA’s explanation in September 2026. FDA refers here to the US Food and Drug Administration. FDA’s drug-directory explanation

Read what the record says, rather than what a badge suggests.

A code records a listing

As of September 2026, FDA states that inclusion in its NDC directory does not show that it verified the supplied information. FDA’s drug-directory explanation

Ask which approval record covers the finished product. Keep that separate from an ingredient listing or a code on a label.

An FDA record does not grant permission to sell

Registration records a facility with FDA; listing records a drug. Under the September 2026 rule, these entries are records, rather than FDA decisions approving a place or a medicine. The registration rule

Neither record, by itself, makes selling the drug legal. Ask what separate legal permission covers the medicine being offered. The registration rule

Doctors’ offices do not receive FDA approval either, according to the agency’s September 2026 explanation. FDA on what approval covers

A useful reply to a badge is: “What does that particular record confirm, and what does it leave unanswered?”
