Where peptide claims leave question marks

A research label does not supply care.

The word research can sound careful and scientific. It does not tell you who has reviewed your health needs or who is responsible for your care.

A moment to think it through.

The idea to question

A laboratory label makes an online product a treatment option.

The short answer

Look out for a label saying “for research purposes.” Another warning phrase is “not for human consumption.” Sellers have offered unapproved weight-care drugs with these labels and instructions telling people how much to take. In its September 2026 advice, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) urges people to leave these purchases alone. FDA’s weight-care cautions

The wording on a label cannot replace a care plan.

Keep the laboratory wording in its place

The quality is unknown and the products may cause harm, FDA warns. FDA’s weight-care cautions

A question worth asking is: “What finished medicine are you proposing, and what is its actual status?”

A specific example with a clear limit

For retatrutide and cagrilintide, FDA states as of September 2026 that federal law does not allow their use in compounding. FDA’s weight-care cautions

A compound is prepared by a pharmacist or doctor from ingredients, instead of arriving as the drug maker’s finished medicine. FDA’s compounding answers

An offer online does not answer the treatment question. Bring the product name to the doctor or other health professional you see for care, and ask about your options.
